I am Madison Hislop, a textile led fashion designer with a focus in knitwear. I believe that clothing is a material embodiment of our memories. Garments have the power to absorb our experiences and emotions, cocooning us in comfort, confidence, and power. As my design sensibility has matured, I have come to realize that I am an anti-perfectionist. Instead of striving for perfection, I gravitate towards the undone, unfinished, and textures and shapes with abnormality and an underlying oddity. Above all, the touch of the fabric is important to me.
In my work, I aim to explore the way in which clothing reflects our humanity and the connections we form with the garments we hold dear. With a romantic and often nostalgic touch, I strive to create clothing that engages with the wearer and strengthens their connection to the clothes they wear.
